There was a very strange soreness in my legs this morning.  Really couldn't get them to move.  This seems to be typical of the recovery process.  I'll have a good day followed by a not so good day.  I'm actually starting to look forward to focusing on shorter races.  I have spent so much time running the same pace for most runs, it will be kind of fun to have a change of pace.  Remind me that I said that when I am complaining about workouts in the future.

It's good to have a variety. You've had an awesome Grand Slam year and you should be very proud with your performance and toughness. There's a very low percent of people that accomplished the task you did this year. Nice work. I was trying to find you at the finish line to meet you, but I didn't look very good I guess in St. George.

I'm running a half marathon race on November 1st and I'm looking forward to the shorter distance.

You should have interrupted that would have been okay. I don't get down there too much. Next time hit me on the back and say Hi. :-)

Oh well, I'm sure will be able to meet in the future. Good luck on the recovery. My legs a still somewhat sore, the hip is still a little sore where I got knocked over. I thought a couple of days ago it was healed. Maybe I was in denial :-).

Hmmm ... I don't know Predog, and Rhett looks different than I imagined. Come to think of it, I don't know that anyone ever really looks like their race pictures!!

Andy --

Just noticed that you posted on one of my old posts that the rule of thumb is no "hard" running one day per each mile in the race. What exactly do you mean when you say "hard?" I really need some help here. I have no idea what I am doing when it comes to post-marathoning. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Teena -

I would define hard workouts as speed work (anything faster than 1/2 marathon pace) or excessively long runs (15+ miles). You just need to go with what feels right. There are a lot of micro-tears in your muscles and until they are fully repaired you are at a higher risk of injury. To be honest, I've really never followed the "rule of thumb". Now is a good to let both your body and mind heal before you ramp up your training for Boston.
