Nice and easy recovery run.  Foot feels a little better than yesterday but is still a nuisance.  I don't think it is anything major.  Just one of those training niggles.

Continuing with the Thursday hill day theme.  With my tender foot and ankles I wasn't sure if tackling Eagleridge was a good idea.  The foot felt pretty good this morning so I gave it a go.  The run starts with 3 easy miles then 2 miles straight up (12% grade according to a road sign).  It actually felt really good going up.  My legs felt strong and the burning in my lungs was satisfying.  Stopped at the golf course and enjoyed the view for a few minutes.  Headed back down and just focused on a good turnover, getting my feet off the ground quick and throwing my stride behind me.  It is almost too steep to get into a good rhythm.  Definitely aggravated my foot but I don't think it is too serious.  Good way to start the day.

Zero foot pain.  Very strange that it came and went so quickly.  My ankles are a bit sore but nothing to be concerned about.  As I went out the door I wasn't sure if it was going to be a recovery run or a GA run.  I was going to let my body decide for me after 1/4 mile.  Everything felt really good so I decided to quicken the pace and lengthen the run and turn it into a good GA run.  Pace felt very good and fluid throughout the run.  The perfect weather certainly helped put me in a good running mood.

Run started at 4:30 a.m. so I could make it to my girl's 8:00 a.m. soccer game. Very uneventful run (which is a good thing).  Could feel some training fatigue in my legs which I was happy for.  I still feel like I have not pushed as hard this training cycle as I could have.

Forgot to log my run yesterday.  Just did 4 loops around the neighborhood so I could stay close to home.  Maintained a good steady pace throughout and felt good.

Not the workout I was hoping for.  Plan called for 6X1200 at 5k pace with a 2 minute jog in between each (I switched it to 1/4 mile jog which is just over 2 minutes).  Warmed up with 3 miles to the LPT.  I knew from the get go that it was going to be a struggle.  Once I stopped to set my Garmin for the workout, I had a real hard time convincing myself to start.  Needless to say, all of the splits were slow and I was very disappointed with my effort.  The splits were all at 6:00/pace except for the 4th which came in at 5:52.  The effort was way too hard for a pace that is 10 seconds slower than 5k pace.  The positive that I will walk away with is that I pushed through and finished the workout despite not feeling it today.  Cooled down with 2.75 miles.

I've been obsessing about the fact that I am not putting in as much work now as I have in the past and that I need to modify my expectations.  I decided to look at my 2007 mileage compared to this year.  I was expecting a shocking difference.  As it turns out, I have only run 0.9 miles less this year through August than I did in 2007.  I ran 35 miles more in August this year than I did then which is good since it is closer to the marathon.  I guess it is time for me to stop whining and just run.

Nothing exciting, just running.  Left knee and right ankle are sore but the pain was manageable once I warmed up.It was almost 20 degrees warmer this morning that it was yesterday morning.  Crazy weather.

My left knee was very sore this morning when I woke up.  It was difficult to walk.  Fortunately, running was alright.  Guess I will have to run everywhere today.  It is most likely just bothering me because of the weather change.

Out and back on the LPT.  Legs feel a little heavy.  Mentally, the run went by pretty quickly.  That's the last mid-week medium long run this training cycle. I'm happy to have those out of the way.

Felt very good during the run other than a little left knee soreness during the first mile. My weight was ridiculously high this morning.  Hoping it is just a blip and it comes back to a reasonable level.

Started with 3 easy miles and felt yucky.  The plan says to run a tune up race but I just ran a 4 mile tempo run instead.  First mile was slow (6:32) but then got into a groove and ran the rest in 6:24, 6:24 and 6:19.  The last 3 felt decent although my chest is feeling a little heavy.

Started the morning with a 5k with the kids at Ashton's school.  Ashton ran on alone, I ran with Gracie and Emma ran with her mom.  Ashton pr'd by over 5 minutes (27 something), Gracie pr'd by 4 minutes (31 something) and Emma finished her first 5k. They all did much better than I thought they would.  During the last 1/2 mile, Gracie said "I can't" quite a few times then took of sprinting for the last 1/4 mile.  I didn't have my Garmin but the pace was around 6:45/mile.  I told her that "I can't" has to me removed from her mind. 

After the race, I did a 14 mile out and back on the Legacy trail.  The run was really bad.  I had heart burn, I had no energy and it was warmer than I liked since I got a late start.  Glad I got the bad run out of my system so it won't be there in 2 weeks.

First 3 miles were a little sluggish but then I got into a good rhythm and the rest of the run felt great.  Last 5 miles were around 7:00/mile and it felt very comfortable.

Happy Birthday to me!  I can't do any crazy running stunts to celebrate my birthday since SGM is 10 days away.  The plan called for 8 miles with 3X1,600 @ 5k pace so that is what I did.  I cheated a little and extended the break from 2 minutes to 1/2 mile.  This is what I have done in the past and wanted to be able to compare previous performances to gauge where I am.  After 3 slower than usual warm up miles I started the repeats. My goal was to keep them under 5:50.  First one was 5:48 and I felt fine physically but it was hard to get into a groove.  Second one was much more fluid and it came in at 5:40.  Third one took more work (as expected) and I really felt like I was pushing during the last 1/4 mile.  It came in at 5:40 as well.  Very happy with the workout.  For comparative purposes, in 2007 my splits for the same workout were 5:50, 5:45, 5:55.  I think I should stop worrying and accept that I'm in as good of shape as I was in 2007.

Just an easy 12 on a beautiful morning.  This is definitely the best time of year.  I was hoping my legs would feel better but they are a little sore (ankles and achilles) and did not have a lot of pep in them.

Slogged through 3 miles then ran 2 at marathon pace.  Ran on a downhill grade similar to SGM so I could get an honest indication of how the pace felt.  The splits were 6:26 and 6:27.  It felt a little quick but sustainable.  Finished with 2 more easy miles.  Achilles is still a bit of a nuisance.

Just keeping the legs moving.  Up 1 more pound today.  I have never had this issue with weight before.  I'm looking at this as rationally and logically as possible.  The weight should only affect my speed and based on recent workouts, my speed is fine.  

Walking around today, I have noticed that my legs are very sore.  Does anybody else get sore when their mileage is reduced?  Hopefully they are sore from packing in all that extra glycogen.

I'm taking today off.  Want to get rid of this leg soreness.  My daughter was up a few times in the middle of the night throwing up so I needed a little extra sleep anyway.
